Canton Police Arrest Burglary, Entering Auto Suspect

Authorities were able to identify the suspect when a resident, whose storage building was burglarized, provided video footage of the crime.

CANTON, GA -- Officers with the Canton Police Department have arrested an entering auto suspect accused of committing crimes dating back as far as November.

Powder Springs resident Christopher Tyrone Seabrooks, 41, has been charged with entering auto and burglary, the agency said Wednesday.

Patrol officers as well as detectives began their investigation in November after responding to a call of a vehicle that was entered into outside a residence on Juniper Street.

The victim, who told police a piece of equipment was taken, was able to provide surveillance footage of the incident, which led police to identify Seabrooks as the person of interest.

"The hard work of our officers and detective, along with the assistance that we received from our citizens, was key in the arrest of this individual and enables us to bring resolution to this criminal activity," said Police Chief Mark Mitchell. "This is what happens when a police department and the citizens we serve work together in an effort to improve the quality of life for our great city."

Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said Seabrooks is also being held without bond on a probation violation charge at the Adult Detention Center.
