Canton Police to Host Coffee With A Cop

The next opportunity to have coffee with a Canton police officer will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Starbucks.

The Canton Police Department will soon give residents another chance to have a cup of Joe and get to know the officers serving their community.

The agency on Wednesday, Sept. 9 will host its next Coffee With A Cop session from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Starbucks located at 1353 Riverstone Parkway.

Chief Mark Mitchell said he believed the initiative will “remove the physical barriers between officers and some of our residents.”

“This interaction happens outside the crisis situations that routinely define interactions between law enforcement and community members,” he said. “Instead, it allows for a relaxed, informal one-on-one interactions in a friendly atmosphere. This will give citizens a chance to voice their concerns about community issues and provide the police department with vital feedback in order for us to improve our service to our citizens.”

The agency also believes the program will enhance trust, increase its legitimacy and ability to build partnerships with the community.
