Canton Police, Sheriff's Office Team Up For Active Shooter Seminar
The course will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at Canton First United Methodist Church.

CANTON, GA -- Do you think you are prepared to respond to an active shooter situation?
If you still have doubts, then an upcoming seminar could help you learn how to better defend yourself and your loved ones.
The Canton Police Department, along with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, will host a community training program for the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events course.

The class will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 20 at Canton First United Methodist Church. The course is based upon the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy that was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University.
Instructors will teach material designed to provide strategies and guidance on how to survive an active shooter event.

This event is open to all citizens. Seating will be at a premium, and available on a first come – first serve basis. Children are welcome to attend, but parental guidance is strongly recommended, as some of the presented material will contain scenes that are sensitive to some viewers.
