CANTON, GA – The Rotary Club of Canton this week celebrated its District awards, which recognized success in expanding membership and serving the community.
The honors include the Gold Club Award for overall excellence, which the Club has earned for 11 consecutive years; Club of the Year runner-up; Club Membership Awards for both Highest Net Increase and Highest Percentage Increase; Club Innovation Award; and the Public Image Award, as well as the Public Image Citation for the larger regional Zone.
President Stacey D. Williams made membership growth the top goal for his Rotary presidential year, which ends this month – and the Canton Club achieved the District’s highest net membership increase of all Clubs, rising from 43 to 60 members.

“The more dedicated Rotarians in our Club, the more ‘Service Above Self’ we can achieve in our community,” Williams said in a prepared statement. “Thank you to everyone in our Club for the role you played to accomplish these successes.”
Col. George Bailey also earned an individual honor: the District 6910-level Robert “Bob” S. Stubbs II Guardian of Ethics Award. This award honors a Rotarian who has demonstrated exceptional ethics throughout his or her life. Col. Bailey, a longtime Rotarian, attorney and judge, earned the Club honor in February and was its nominee for the District award.
