Squad 22 was in the midst of transporting a patient and that person's spouse to Northside Hospital Cherokee when the collision occurred.
The ambulance was hit on its left front and side by a vehicle driven by Aliaksei Shumila. The patient and spouse were OK, but the attending firefighter did suffer minor injures, Prather added. Additionally, the driver of the ambulance required some assistance in exiting the vehicle.

All of the occupants were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Shumila was cited for driving too fast for conditions, as the roadway was wet at the time of the collision, Cordry added.
