CCSD Leaders Prep For New School Year With Leadership Symposium

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower welcomed guests on Tuesday afternoon, as he began the two--day professional learning event.

CANTON-SIXES, GA - From Cherokee County School District: The Cherokee County School District’s school and district leaders kicked off the new school year with the annual CCSD Leadership Symposium professional development event!

Thanks to the support of community partners, CCSD school and district leaders this week had the opportunity to attend two days of sessions designed to prepare them for the new school year. This year’s event was held at Woodstock High School and was made possible by Presenting Sponsors, Cherokee County Educational Foundation and Credit Union of Georgia; and Platinum Sponsors, ABM Industry Groups, Goshen Valley and HP.

The event began on Tuesday afternoon with remarks by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower and a keynote address by nationally renowned educator, author and speaker George Couros, who shared his experiences and expertise in educational innovation. More than 400 CCSD educators and special guests, including the Cherokee County School Board, Cherokee County Council of PTA Executive Board and Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Education Committee members, attended.

On Wednesday, CCSD Principals and Assistant Principals spent the day in classes led by the Superintendent’s senior staff to receive updated information on topics ranging from blended learning to financial management to school safety and security.
