Charity Ride Could Bring Traffic Delays To Canton, Holly Springs
The Sonny Roper Memorial Toy Ride will take place on Sunday, Nov. 2.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that a local charity motorcycle ride slated to take place this weekend could tie up some major thoroughfares and side streets.
The third-annual Sonny Roper Memorial Toy Ride, sponsored by the Hickory Flat Masonic Lodge # 205 & Cherokee Shrine Club, will start at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 at the shopping center at 9105 Hickory Flat Highway near Mountain Road and head towards Sugar Pike Road and Lower Birmingham Road in Hickory Flat.
Riders will then travel on Highway 372 towards Highway 369 and eventually turn onto Yellow Creek Road. The ride will travel into Pickens County on Highway 53 and then down Highway 108 towards Sutallee before traveling east on Knox Bridge Highway/S.R. 20 back to Canton.

The ride will end at the Shrine Club on Hickory Road in Holly Springs. Officials estimate the ride will end around 1:30 p.m. Residents are strongly encouraged to find alternate routes.
Registration for the ride begins at 9:30 a.m. and the fee is two unwrapped toys per rider. A T-shirt will be given for the first 100 registered motorcycles. The charity ride will benefit less fortunate children in Cherokee County.
