Chase Massner: Man Charged With Concealing Death Arrested

James Bradshaw Clement was apprehended Thursday in DeKalb County by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit.

CANTON, GA -- The manhunt for the suspect charged with concealing a death in connection to the case of Chase Massner, an Army veteran reported missing more than three years ago, has come to an end. James Bradshaw Clement, 31, was arrested Thursday afternoon in DeKalb County by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit and taken into custody.

Cobb County detectives charged Clement with concealing a death, which is a felony, after human remains were discovered at his former home in the 500 block of Farmbrook Trail in Kennesaw (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Clement originally agreed to turn himself in, but went on the run, the Cobb police department said. News of his decision to flee prompted a citizen to propose a $1,000 reward leading to Clement's capture. It was also followed by news that a Honda Civic matching the description of Clement's vehicle was spotted parked outside his mother's house in Cobb County.

Massner was last seen at the residence on Farmbrook Trail in Kennesaw on March 28, 2014. While the remains found last week on the property are believed by investigators as belonging to Massner, positive identification is still pending from the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office.

Earlier this week, Massner’s mother, Stephanie Ann Cadena, took to Facebook to plead for Clement to turn himself in, saying, "Brad Clement, for Gods sake, STOP! You spoke to me face to face and even hugged me! If you're not guilty face us and show us the truth! You love your Mother and Chase Massner loved me! But Chase is no longer here to speak, you are! Please step up and do the right thing!!"

Massner reportedly went to stay at a Clement's home after having a marital dispute. Clement has fought allegations for three years that he had something to do with Massner's disappearance.
