Cherokee Animal Shelter Opens New Intake Facility
The facility is about 9,100 square feet, and includes triage rooms, medical treatment areas and a grooming area.

CANTON, GA — Cherokee County officials on Tuesday came together to celebrate the grand opening of the new intake facility of the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. The new facility has been needed for quite some time due to the soaring population of the county.
The new facility is safer for the animals, staff and public, said Cherokee Chief Marshal Ron Hunton. It's also more energy efficient, with LED lighting and light sensors in many of the rooms.
The new intake facility, which is about 9,100 square feet, is a low maintenance building to operate and has many state of the art features such as triage rooms, medical treatment areas and a grooming area.

"The purpose and design for the new intake shelter is to provide the best care for the animal until they can find their future home," Hunton added.
Cherokee's new intake facility at 131 Chattin Drive (located behind the adoption center at 1015 Univeter Road) is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. You can learn more about the Cherokee County Animal Shelter by visiting its website.
