Cherokee Charter Participates in Holly Springs Christmas Parade
local school participates in City of Holly Springs Christmas parade
Holly Springs, GA- On a cool Friday night and sunny, yet crisp Saturday afternoon, the CCA choir and band each be participated in the Holly Springs annual Christmas tree lighting and Christmas parade respectively. The choir performed at the tree lighting ceremony on Friday night for local residents. This tree lighting event was inaugurated to honor and support senior veterans from the Cherokee County Senior Services Center. Knowing that we are a part of a great community service is awesome,” exclaimed 7th grade choir member Lailah Ramsey. "Performing in front of the Mayor of Holly Springs and more than 50 other people made many of us nervous but excited at the same time.
While the choir was lighting up the Friday night Holly Springs with smooth sounds, the band participated in the Christmas parade on Saturday. It was a crisp, cool day that saw many local residents line Holly Springs Pkwy to see all of the bands, floats, and local businesses represented. CCA had an amazing float in the parade, which informed people the important lesson of recycling! The float was a Christmas tree designed out of different types of plastic; it was topped with a lovely star made out of Styrofoam cups! Created by CCA’s MS Art teacher, Mrs. Jones, choir students walked proudly in the parade. "We walked and sang behind a beautiful and creative float," said Lailah Ramsey." Another choir member, Ansley Dilling also added that, “It was amazingly creative, especially since it was made out of plastic.”
In addition to the band’s participation and CCA staff and students walking proudly with its recyclable float, a Christmas parade could not be complete without good ole Santa Clause. He decided to give his reindeer a rest before the big night, as he donned the back seat of a one of the convertibles and could be seen waving at parade goers.
