Cherokee Charter Students Honor Geist & Usher
Cherokee Charter SGA students recognized Michael Geist and Rob Usher for their public support of Cherokee Charter Academy and school choice.
Students Chandler McCoy, Maeve Spoor, Mackenzie Craft, Demetrius McCants & Laurel Blase of Cherokee Charter Academy’s Student Government Association gave special thanks to two former members of the Cherokee County School Board. Michael Geist and Rob Usher recently ended their service on the board. Mr. Geist is also a CCA parent, Mr. Usher is now a member of the Woodstock City Council.
At a recent CCA PTC (Parent-Teacher Coop) meeting, the former school board members were presented with special repousse` art pieces. The ornamental metalwork was created by Cherokee Charter students.
Mr. Usher could not attend, Mrs. Pam Usher received the gift in her husband’s absence. Also pictured are CCA teacher Sarah Poteat and principal Dr. Scott O’Prey.

Mr. Geist told CCA families that he appreciated their support during his sometimes challenging tenure on the school board and that he was glad for the success of Cherokee Charter and school choice in the county.
CCA has been operating as a state-commissioned charter school since 2011. As a public charter school it conducts its business as it’s own Local Education Agency and is not affiliated with the Cherokee County School District.
