A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that “periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties,” the agency states.

Residents should expect snow accumulations between .5 and 1 inch, areas of black ice until road temperatures rise above freezing and “dangerous” wind chills.

Snow flurries and showers will continue through Wednesday morning while the wind chills are expected to remain at hazardous levels until Thursday morning.

“Even the lower elevations of north Georgia will see the potential for slick spots on roadways due to black ice early this morning and Wednesday morning, as any lingering moisture on the roads will re-freeze,” NWS states.

Scattered snow showers will continue throughout Tuesday, and total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, according to the forecast for Canton.

Daytime highs will be around 35 degrees and the low for Tuesday will bottom out to around 22 degrees.
