Cherokee County Promotes 10 Firefighters

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services promoted 10 of their firefighters to higher ranks, including Battalion Chief.

CANTON-SIXES, GA - From Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services: Ten Cherokee County firefighters were promoted last Monday night during ceremonies at Cherokee County Fire Training Complex, located south of Holly Springs.

Fred Dobson, who has worked for the fire department for over 28 years, was promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief.

Promoted to the rank of Captain were Gregory Deal and Nathan Roper. Deal came to work for the department in 2003, while Roper came on board in 2005. Kevin Davis, Justin Gilleland and Brandon Denson were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Davis and Denson were employed by the department in 2003 and
Gilleland came in 2005. Dwayne Barbee, Charles Wilbanks, William Phillips and Doug Hocker were promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Barbee came to work for the fire department in 2006, while Wilbanks and Phillips joined the department the following year. Hocker was employed by the department in 2012.

Numerous firefighters, chiefs and family members attended the event. Refreshments were held afterwards in honor of the promotions.
