Cherokee Firefighter Retires After 16 Years Of Service

Scott Coppola, a firefighter with Cherokee Fire & Emergency Services, retired after 16 years of service to the citizens of Cherokee County.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — After more than 16 years of service to the citizens of Cherokee County, a firefighter has hung up his hat.

Scott Coppola, a firefighter with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, was recognized last Friday at a retirement ceremony held at the administrative offices of the fire department.

Assistant Cherokee County Fire Chief, Eddie Robinson, thanked Coppola for his 16 years of service to the citizens of Cherokee County and presented him with a “bugle” award. The bugle or speaking trumpet is a reference to a megaphone like device that was used in the early days of the fire service.

Coppola began his career with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services on February 3, 2003 as a firefighter/paramedic. Coppola was promoted to Medcon on December 11, 2011.
