Cherokee Marshal's Office Recognizes Employees For Service To Public

The employees were recognized for helping a person suffering a medical emergency and preventing a resident from committing self-harm.

CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee Marshal's Office recently recognized public safety personnel from the agency as well as its E-911 Communications Center for their exceptional service during critical incidents.

The E-911 Center was recognized for fielding more than 800 calls for service in a two-hour time period during a severe thunderstorm that occurred in March.

Additionally, Jason Jenkins was recognized for his contributions in helping with the consolidation of the Canton Fire Department with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

Sergeant Matthew McMullen and Deputy Marshal William King encountered a subject who threatened to commit self-harm. Their quick actions not only prevented this person from following through on those threats, but also got that resident the help they needed.

Also recognized was Deputy Marshal Dakota Smith, who observed a motorist having a diabetic emergency. The motorist was unresponsive and the vehicle was locked. Smith broke the rear window, removed the driver from the vehicle and waited with the patient until emergency medical assistance arrived to take over care.
