Cherokee Recreation and Parks Honors Volunteers at Banquet

Canton, GA -- Each year, Cherokee Recreation & Parks Agency has the pleasure of honoring and recognizing county’s volunteers who dedicate their time and services to youth sports, individuals with special needs, Cherokee County parks and trails and other amenities.

The agency last week continued that tradition with its 9th Annual V.I.P. Banquet, which was held Jan. 21 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center.

The banquet included volunteers and their guests enjoying a reception, dinner and ceremony recognizing volunteers -- including the Distinguished Volunteer(s) of the Year, -- words from a special speaker and gifts and door prizes.

For their outstanding level of volunteerism, selflessness and dedication to quality leisure activities in Cherokee County, the CRPA Distinguished Volunteer(s) of the Year honor went to residents Holly Pineda and Amy Turcotte.

This year’s keynote speaker was Danielle Donehew, executive director with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, and a former standout basketball player for Sequoyah High School.
