Cherokee Schools To Host Leadership Summit Focusing On STEM

This school year, seven Cherokee County middle schools and four elementary schools will begin integrating STEM Connect into instruction.

CANTON, GA — Cherokee County School District and Discovery Education, the global leader in standards-aligned digital curriculum resources, engaging content, and professional learning for K-12 classrooms, will partner to host a unique leadership retreat. The retreat will be on Monday, July 22 from 1-3 p.m. at the Dr. Frank R. Petruzielo Educational Services Facility, 1205 Bluffs Parkway in Canton.

Focusing on STEM, an inquiry- based approach to teaching and learning encompassing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, this event invites educators, administrators, community members, and business leaders from across the region to meet and develop a collective vision and strategy for creating a culture of STEM in their school system.

During a series of interactive sessions, attendees will examine data on career opportunities in Cherokee County, experience model STEM lessons, participate in hands-on STEM activities, and begin to create the STEM definition and vision for their school district. This vision of STEM will then be used by the school district to help guide future decisions on STEM education.
