“We want to bring the expertise of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to the community of Cherokee county. Not only are we opening a physical therapy clinic, we are contracted with all six Cherokee high schools to provide certified athletic trainer coverage to their teams and athletes.” said Bob Breingan, director of Outpatient Therapies, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. “Because we focus solely on kids, our certified athletic trainers and therapists recognize when a young athlete is ready to progress to the next level of treatment and how to push them to get back better than before. “The 2,800-square-foot facility offers specialized therapy and rehabilitation to patients, as well as access to sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, strength and conditioning specialists and a registered dietitian.

Young athletes in the Cherokee area can now utilize ImPACT concussion testing, a throwing lane for pitching analysis, dance floor and bars for dance therapy and technology like Dartfish motion analysis that allows patients to have their mechanics reviewed and assessed by pediatric physical therapists who specialize in their sport.

Children’s at Cherokee is one of 14 Children’s Sports Medicine Program facilities located throughout metro Atlanta. More information can be found at www.choa.org/sportsmedicine.

In March 2016, Children’s at Cherokee will expand to include an Urgent Care Center. This will be Children’s sixth Urgent Care Center to serve families in the metro Atlanta area. Children’s Urgent Care Center locations offer specialized pediatric care for minor illnesses and injuries, lab and x-ray services, on-staff pediatricians and hours of availability seven days a week including holidays.
