Coffee With A Cop Allows Residents To Connect With Officers

Residents who want to get to know the officers of the Canton Police Department a little better are invited to attend the agency’s first-ever Coffee With A Cop.

The meet-and-greet will be held at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at Dunkin’ Donuts, which is at 121 Marietta Highway.

Chief Mark Mitchell said he believed the initiative will “remove the physical barriers between officers and some of our residents.”

“This interaction happens outside the crisis situations that routinely define interactions between law enforcement and community members,” he said. “Instead, it allows for a relaxed, informal one-on-one interactions in a friendly atmosphere. This will give citizens a chance to voice their concerns about community issues and provide the police department with vital feedback in order for us to improve our service to our citizens.”

The agency also believes the program will enhance trust, increase its legitimacy and ability to build partnerships with the community.

“I would like to thank Dunkin’ Donuts and their management team for agreeing to host such an important for the community,” Mitchell stated.
