Deadline To Apply For Canton Citizen Police Academy is Sunday

The classes will start April 28 and expose residents to a variety of aspects of law enforcement and modern day policing.

The Canton Police Department is encouraging residents to take part in its upcoming Citizen Police Academy.

The next session is slated to start April 28, and classes will be held each Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through June 9.

The program will give citizens an inside view of modern day policing, drug enforcement, personal protection and more.

Residents will also be able to interact with officers from Traffic, Uniform Patrol, Investigations, K-9 and Code Enforcement divisions. Additionally, students will also have a chance to meet the young men and women from the agency’s Explorer Program and have a chance to participate in demonstrations.

Citizens will also have the opportunity to ride along with an officer and spend an afternoon at the firing range.

The deadline for registration is Sunday, April 19. Registrants must be 21 years old or older. Interested residents are asked to email kathryn.blair@canton-georgia.com for more information or to register.
