District Offers Summer School Options For Students

High school students will be able to earn credit for classes or recover credit for classes not passed during the regular school year.

The Cherokee County School District is offering summer school opportunities for students to earn credit for high school classes or gain recovery credit for high school classes not passed during the regular school year.

The system will also offer a chance for specifically identified rising ninth grade students to review key eighth grade concepts and to preview core ninth grade content, with an emphasis on high school transition skills and processes.

High School Summer School

Regular Summer School courses will be offered by Polaris Evening Program at Woodstock High School only. These classes are for initial credit or credit recovery. Courses are offered based upon sufficient demand.

Classes are June 8-26, meeting for four hours daily, either 8 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendance at all classes is mandatory. Registration is June 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at Woodstock High School. Cost is $200 per class/half credit. Cash or money orderpayment required at registration.

Credit Connect: Online Credit Recovery & APEX

These classes will be offered at each high school. Registration begins May 4 at each high school through the counselors’ office. Students must attend until online coursework is complete. Cost is $200 per class/half unit of credit. Cash or money order payment required at registration.

Health and PE for Rising Ninth Graders

Rising ninth graders may elect to take a half unit of physical education and/or health for high school credit. Classes are June 8-26, meeting for four hours daily (either 8 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.), offered at Polaris Evening Program at Woodstock or Cherokee high schools (no transportation is provided).

Registration is June 2, 8:00 a.m. to noon at Woodstock and Cherokee (Students should register at the location in which they plan to attend). Cost is $200 per course/half unit of credit. Attendance at all classes is mandatory. Cash ormoney order payment required at registration.

Bridge Program for Rising Ninth Graders

A summer Bridge opportunity for specifically identified rising ninth graders will take place at each high school as an opportunity to review eighth-grade key concepts, as well as preview core concepts for ninth grade content. These students will be selected as a collaborative initiative between the zonehigh schools and middle schools. Each high school will host a Bridge program for this purpose.
