Driver Uninjured When Truck Overturns In Front Of Canton Restaurant

The driver of a transfer truck escaped injury Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident.

Officers with the Canton Police Department and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to the accident just after 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18 along Marietta Highway in front of Williamson Brothers Bar-B-Q.
Crews arrived and found the truck lying on its side along the highway in front of the restaurant, which sits at Marietta Highway’s intersection with the Interstate 575 entrance ramp.

Cherokee fire spokesperson Tim Cavender said the truck was exiting the interstate and turning left towards S.R. 20 westbound when “it flipped over on its side.”
Cavender said the driver wasn’t injured and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
One lane of Marietta Highway was closed until the wreck and its contents were cleared. The accident remains under investigation.
