Fair Housing Assessment Begins In Cherokee County
The public is invited to provide input on ways to overcome the identified barriers to fair housing.

CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee County Community Development Block Program Office is seeking your input as it begins development of an Assessment of Fair Housing that will identify patterns of integration and segregation; racially and ethnically concentrated areas of poverty; disparities in access to opportunity; and disproportionate housing needs.
This assessment is a condition of the county receiving Housing and Urban Development grant funds under the CDBG Program. Based on the findings of this research, the assessment will propose fair and affordable housing strategies to overcome the identified fair housing barriers.
The assessment process is heavily influenced by the views and recommendations of local residents, whose input is solicited both through the workshops detailed below and an online survey. Workshops are scheduled for:

- 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Canton City Hall, 151 Elizabeth Street, Canton
- 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Next Step Ministries, 7709 Turner Road, Woodstock
- 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 at MUST Ministries, 111 Brown Industrial Parkway, Canton
- 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Cherokee County Senior Services, 1001 Univeter Road, Canton
These community workshops are open to the general public and will provide Cherokee County residents an
opportunity to have their input incorporated into the assessment. An online survey is also be available to receive public input through Dec. 22.
