Fatal Vehicle Fire In Canton, Highway 369

Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 369 where they found the driver had died.

CANTON, GA -- A man died Friday morning in a vehicle accident on Highway 369, officials said. The accident took place just west of the Yellow Creek Road intersection.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning where they observed a dark gray Chevrolet Malibu that was travelling west when it drove off the road and down an embankment into trees. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, according to a press release, but the driver was pronounced dead as soon as they got to him. It appeared the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Both lanes of the highway were blocked until the vehicle was removed. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Cherokee County Fire Investigator and the cause of the accident is being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
