Fire Damages Holly Springs Home

Three animals were also rescued from the home Thursday afternoon.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA -- No injuries were reported in a fire that substantially damaged a Cherokee County home Thursday afternoon.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, along with the Canton Fire Department, responded to the fire in the 700 block of Creekwood Lane April 14 in Holly Springs.

Special Operations Chief Darrell Mitchell arrived on scene and reported the house was about 75 percent engulfed in flames. Firefighters learned that the residents were not home at the time, but there were reports of dogs still inside the house.

Firefighters were able to retrieve the three animals from the burning structure. Two-thirds of the house received major damage from the fire, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family with temporary housing.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
