Fire Destroys Home in Canton Subdivision

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported Thursday afternoon in Great Sky.

CANTON, GA -- A home in a Cherokee County subdivision was a total loss due to a fire reported Thursday afternoon.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and the Canton Fire Department responded to the fire on Blue Mountain Rise just after 2 p.m. April 21 in the Great Sky subdivision, which is located off S.R. 140/Reinhardt College Parkway.

Cherokee County's Squad 9 was the first crew to arrive on the scene, and reported "heavy smoke and heavy flames coming from the two story structure," Cherokee County fire said.

"You could see the heavy flames coming from the back of the house,” said firefighter Michael Vaughn.

A Cherokee County ladder truck also responded to the scene to help with battling the blaze. The house was "completely gutted" by the fire, the agency added.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
