ForCanton To Host 4th Annual Back To School Blast

The free event will provide school supplies and other necessities for less fortunate Cherokee County children.

CANTON, GA -- If you're looking for a great way to help area youngsters get ready for school, then a nonprofit organization's initiative could be the perfect opportunity for you to give back to the community.

ForCanton will host a Back To School Blast to help less fortunate children get the supplies they need ahead of the first day of school, which is set for Monday, Aug. 1 for the Cherokee County School District.

The free carnival be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 30 at Action Church.

Organizers hope to give away 2,000 backpacks filled with supplies. Along with the giveaway, the event will include a carnival ride, food and free haircuts.

Hundreds of items are still needed for the event, including 825 three-ring binder, 750 loose-leaf packets of paper, 675 highlighters, 520 erasers, 350 packs of crayons and 340 spiral notebooks, ForCanton wrote on its Facebook page.

ForCanton, a branch of Action Church, is a nonprofit organization with the mission of making a difference in Cherokee County.
