Freedom Middle School Paraprofessional Awarded

From CCSD: A Freedom Middle School paraprofessional has been named the Cherokee County School District’s Outstanding Paraprofessional Award winner for the year!

Maria Rogers earned the Department of Special Education’s newly established honor, which will be presented annually to one paraprofessional working in a special education classroom, in recognition of her excellent service to students and support of colleagues.

“Maria is my rock,” teacher Crystal Stauf said of her award-winning colleague. “She is a fantastic partner to have in the classroom. While I was out on maternity leave, Maria took care of my kids and my classroom with the utmost diligence. She is truly an asset to any program, and I am lucky to have her as not only my paraprofessional, but my friend as well!”

Every CCSD school is invited to select its own honoree from the paraprofessionals who serve in its special education classrooms; the districtwide winner is selected from that pool by the Special Education department.

“Thank you Maria for all of the love that you give daily to the students and staff at Freedom Middle School,” Special Education Executive Director Charlette Green said. “Cherokee County School District is honored to have you as part of our family!”
