The fatal wreck occurred around 11:15 p.m. when Metcalf, who was walking northbound with his bicycle on the right edge of S.R. 3 at Market Place Boulevard, was hit from behind by a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling in the same direction, Georgia State Patrol spokesperson Tracey Watson said.
Metcalf was reported dead at the scene while the driver of the Tahoe, 52-year-old Cartersville resident Ellen Allen, was not injured, Watson added.
Metcalf was once a resident of Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, according to a post the organization made on its Facebook page.
The group said Metcalf, and his older brother John, called the facility home several years before they were adopted in 2010.
“Jordin will be remembered as bright, joyful, energetic and caring,” the organization said. “Jordin was much loved by the other boys on the ranch despite often being one of the youngest in age, and was known to regularly fill a room with infectous laughter. Truly, Jordin’s life will be remembered and cherished always by those who knew him. Peace be with you, Jordin, and peace be with John, Amy, and Rod as they grieve the loss of a brother and son whom they dearly loved.”
Metcalf is survived by his father and mother, Rod and Amy Metcalf of Waleska; brother, Johnathan Metcalf of Waleska; sisters, Nikki Rogers and Chesley Brown of Acworth; grandparents, Harold and Judy Metcalf, Shepherd, MI, Joseph Meyer of Canton; birth mother, Lisa Rogers of Douglas; birth father, Paul (Darci) Rogers of Craig, CO; aunt and uncle, Kerrick and Melissa Kontio of Holland, MI; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Darby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
