Cherokee County Intersection Reopens Following Gas Leak (UPDATED)

UPDATE at 6:59 pm. Nov. 27: Hickory Road at Stringer Road has reopened to traffic.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA -- A gas leak has forced the Cherokee Sheriff's Office to close Hickory Road at Stringer Road in the Hickory Flat community.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, while the gas company makes its way to the scene to begin repairs. The Cherokee County School District said on its Facebook page that the gas main break is not only impacting traffic, but also bus routes for Hickory Flat Elementary, Dean Rusk Middle and Sequoyah High Schools.

These bus routes may be delayed Monday, and parents and guardians are asked to contact their child's school with any questions.
