The Canton Police Department is asking residents to help them locate a missing teenager.

Yaritza Guadalupe Pacheco-Melchor, 16, was last seen at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at her home on Canton Street. She was wearing a black and white striped sweater and blue jeans, the agency said in its be-on-the-lookout alert.

According to Canton police, the teen “stayed home from school because she wasn’t feeling well.” At 1:45 p.m., Yaritza sent her mother a text to inform her that she took a bus to Houston, Texas. The teen has clothes missing from her home, and authorities believe she may be traveling to Mexico where she has relatives.

Yaritza, described as a Hispanic female, is 5’1’’, weighs around 130 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.

Anyone who has information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Canton police detective Sgt. Scott Hoffman at 770-720-4883 or scott.hoffman@canton-georgia.com.
