Give A Kid A Chance Returns July 16
The 11th annual drive prepares less fortunate children for the return of school.

CANTON, GA -- The collaborative effort to get Cherokee County students prepared for the 2016-17 school year will return next week.
The 11th annual Give A Kid A Chance will be held on Saturday, July 16 at two locations: Hillside United Methodist Church in Towne Lake and First Baptist Church Canton.
Cherokee County faith leaders, various civic organization, businesses and many volunteers have all come together for the common goal of helping families equip their children for the beginning of the school year.

The students who've registered for the initiative will have a chance to receive a filled backpack, select seasonally and school appropriate clothing and new socks and underwear.
Children can selected a few books from over 7,000 books that have been donated and can choose a stuffed animal from the 2,000 that have been collected for the event.

Medical professionals will be on site to perform vision, hearing, dental and nutritional screening needed for children entering school for the first time.
Attending families are also welcome to stay for lunch. Pre-registered children were sent postcards indicating their appointment time.
