Handguns, Cash Stolen During Entering Auto Spree: Cops

The Canton Police Department said more than two dozen incidents of entering autos were reported in the Summer Walk and Park Village areas.

CANTON, GA — The Canton Police Department is investigating multiple incidents of entering autos reported early Sunday in two subdivisions on the northern side of the city. Officers responded to multiple calls of vehicles being entered into in the Summer Walk and Park Village neighborhoods, which are both located off Fate Conn Road.

As of Tuesday, 25 reports of entering autos between both subdivisions have been documented by the police department.

"From what officers and detectives can determine, all vehicles entered were unlocked at the time of the crimes," the agency said.

Some homeowners were also able to provide surveillance videos showing four males walking through the neighborhoods, pulling on door handles and entering unlocked vehicles between 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m., according to police. The subjects allegedly stole three handguns, an undetermined amount of cash and other personal items, Canton police state.

Canton police note it's increased patrols in the area, and residents are encouraged to "partner with them to help enforcement efforts by locking their vehicles and removing any personal belongings to include (handguns, laptops, wallets, purses), etc."
