With the help of the Canton Police Department, Cherokee Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents, the three suspects -- Trayvon Lamar Jones, 20, Tony Adam Samples, 24, and Brody Austin Samples, 22 -- were arrested on Monday, the agency said on its Facebook page.

Pickens sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a shooting around 1:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15 at a home on Lower Dowda Mill road in unincorporated Jasper.

Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with the female victim, who ”appeared to be bleeding,” the agency said.

Two other men were inside the residence at the time of the incident, and recounted to police the details of the alleged crime.

Deputies learned three men came to the home and allegedly forced their way into the house. The suspects, who police say were carrying a bat and long gun, immediately clashed with the victims and demanded property they came to the house to pick up.

Shots were fired during the incident, and the woman sustained a gunshot wound. She was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The witnesses were able to provide a basic description of the vehicle, and detectives learned the car had been spotted in the Canton area. They were able to move into the area and arrest the three suspects.

“Thanks to a terrific team of law enforcement officers from Pickens County, Canton, Cherokee County and the GBI, they were able to bring a rapid closure to this case,” said Pickens Sheriff Donnie Craig, adding he was happy “to prevent panic for our citizens by taking the individuals involved into custody.”

The investigation remains open and investigators continue to interview all parties involved in the case.
