PICKENS COUNTY, GA -- Cherokee County's Technical Large Animal Rescue Team was dispatched to Pickens County Thursday morning to help with a horse that could not stand on its legs.
The team, which is part of Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, was dispatched just before 11 a.m. Jan. 26 to a location in the 2500 block of Bryant Road, which is off Jerusalem Church Road south of GA-53.
When crew members arrived on the scene, they found the horse, a Clydesdale, lying on the ground and "unable to stand on all fours," Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said.

“The horse fell the night before and worked his way down a hill for about 20 to 30 yards and couldn’t get up," Cherokee County Fire Sgt. Jason Angle added.
Team members placed the Clydesdale into a Becker Sling, which is a vertical lift system designed to lift large animals during short rescue operations. With the help of Jasper-based A&T Towing, the horse was lifted and able stand on its own legs.
