How Will The Cold Weather Impact Outdoor School Activities?
Temperatures are expected to plummet through the end of the week in Canton and Cherokee County.
Due to the cold weather forecast for Wednesday through Friday, all Cherokee County School District outdoor activities and events are cancelled for these three days, effective immediately.
The school district said outdoor practices may be moved indoors if feasible; indoor activities, such as basketball, are not impacted by this cancellation, however. Saturday outdoor events are not impacted at this time.

While the school district is out on break this week, the system on Tuesday did go ahead and cancel all outdoor student athletic events for the week.

After old man winter brought ice and closed schools Tuesday across metro Atlanta, a blast of bone-chilling winds will make it feel like it’s below zero in many places tonight.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for much of north and central Georgia, in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to noon Thursday. Lows are expected in the single digits and teens, and northwest winds 10 to 20 mph will push wind chill factors to as low as 5 below.
All of metro Atlanta is under the advisory, including Canton. The low in Cherokee County is forecast to be 11 tonight.

Highs today are expected to reach the upper 30s while tonight’s lows will dip to around 13 degrees. Thursday’s high won’t get above freezing, and will remain at 25 degrees. Tomorrow’s low is expected to be 15 degrees.
Don’t look now, but the weather service has wintry weather in its weekend forecasts.
