Husband Indicted On Charges He Killed Wife Inside SUV

Police say Darrell Eaker fatally shot wife, Audra, in December 2016 as she drove along Highway 92 in Woodstock.

CANTON, GA -- A Cherokee County man has been indicted on charges he fatally shot his wife while they were traveling inside a vehicle on Highway 92 in Woodstock.

A Cherokee County grand jury indicted Darrell Eaker on one count each of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, criminal damage to property in the first degree and discharge of a firearm near a highway or street, court records show.

Eaker is accused of fatally shooting Audra Eaker as she drove a gray 2011 Ford Edge on Highway 92 at Indian Valley Drive around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 27, Woodstock police previously told Patch.

According to the indictment, Eaker fired an H&K .45 caliber handgun at his estranged wife, and the bullets struck the victim in her face and head.

Eaker's alleged actions also damaged a vehicle driven by another motorist, the indictment charges.

Woodstock police spokesperson Brittany Duncan told Patch that the Eakers were "married, but separated" at the time of the shooting.

Shortly after his arrest, a Cherokee County Magistrate Court judge denied bond for Eaker and he remains held at the Cherokee County Jail.

Eaker is set to be arraigned on the charges at 9 a.m. April 13 in courtroom 2C at the Cherokee County Justice Center.
