Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said five of these cases occurred this month in Cherokee County: two at a Karate studio on Highway 92 in Woodstock on March 9, one at Hobgood Park in Towne Lake on March 10 and two at a daycare on Highway 92 on March 15.
In four of the five cases, the windows were shattered in the vehicles and purses or bags containing checks, ID’s and credit cards were taken, according to the sheriff's office.

In one case, the targeted car was not locked, and the suspect simply opened the door, the sheriff's office said.
Lt. Jay Baker, spokesperson with the agency, also said investigators are aware of similar thefts occurring in Kennesaw and Alpharetta.
Baker said witnesses have reported seeing a black male driving a white SUV committing the thefts. However, a "white female is taking the victims' checks and conducting transactions at local banks, banks in south Georgia and even a bank as far away as Missouri," the agency added.
On March 24, the agency received a new photograph of the suspect allegedly at a bank drive-thru in the northeast Georgia town of Homer, according to a post on its Facebook page.
Sheriff's detectives said the woman was allegedly "cashing a check that was stolen from a car in a Cherokee County 'smash and grab' earlier this month." In the photo, the woman appears to have a tattoo on her upper right arm, and is driving the same white Dodge captured on camera at the Alpharetta bank.
Anyone who recognizes the woman or has any information related to these thefts is asked to contact investigators at 770-928-0239.
