In Memory: Dr. Harry Nathaniel Davis, 68

Dr. Harry Nathaniel Davis, 68, of Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Nov. 18, 2013. He fought a brave battle against cancer.

Dr. Davis was born in Galveston, Texas, on May 2, 1945. He was the son of the late Hillie DeWitt Davis and the late Edna Grace Davis. A graduate of Mercer University and the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Davis served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Dayton, Ohio.  

In 1977, he and his wife Catherine moved their family to Canton, Georgia, where he entered medical practice with Dr. William Nichols and Dr. H. L. Gold. In 1994, he became a partner in Medical Associates of North Georgia where he continued to touch many lives as a Family Practitioner.

Dr. Davis had a true passion for medicine, which manifested itself in his utmost respect and compassion for his patients.  He dearly cared for everyone he treated.

Dr. Davis’s generous heart and deep spiritual faith inspired him to lead medical mission trips to Guatemala over the past decade.

Known for his sense of humor and infectious laugh, Dr. Davis enjoyed life, his family and friends, fishing with his grandsons, telling corny jokes, and family beach trips.

Dr. Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Hillie Sue (Manny) Cuesta.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Catherine Glover Davis; three daughters: Suzanne (Michael) Garrett, Alison Davis, and Catherine (Jeff) Ouellette; four grandchildren: Camden, Austin, Tyler, and Allie; sisters, Faye Milner and Edith Gwaltney (Paul); and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held today at Canton First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Murphey officiating. An interment service followed at Georgia National Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Wayne Courson, Michael Garrett, Jeremy Gwaltney, Paul Gwaltney, Stephen Gwaltney, Max Irwin, Andy Mendonsa, and Jeff Ouellette.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Georgia Right to Life, Widows Harvest in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Medical Missions Ministries.  Donations may be made to New Covenant Bible Church, with the intended organization specified in the memo line.
