Indian Festival, Mother's Day Powwow Returns This Weekend
The 27th annual event, hosted by Rolling Thunder Enterprises, will be held Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 at Boling Park in Canton.

CANTON, GA -- If you're looking for a family friendly and fun way to celebrate Mother's Day weekend, then look no further than the 27th annual Cherokee County Indian Festival.

This rain or shine event will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 7 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8 at Boling Park in Canton.
This north Georgia tradition features many activities for all audiences, including a Native American dance competition; warriors on horseback; Native film and TV stars; hoop dancers and Aztec dancers; tipis, wigwam and living Indian village and displays; Northern Plains encampment; primitive skills; environmental and wildlife displays; Native American artisans; Save the Horses rescue group; train rides and other activities for children; Mother’s Day Honor Dance and much more.

The grand entry will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Food will be served throughout the day and is scheduled to include Native American cuisine such as buffalo burgers, gator tail, roasted corn, Indian frybread, Indian tacos and other dishes.
Tickets will be on sale at the gate throughout the event. The cost is $15 for adults and teens age 13 and older; $5 for children age 6 to 12 and free for children under 5.
Rolling Thunder Enterprises has been producing cultural showcases and entertainment programs for more than two decades with rave reviews from educational institutions, corporations, law enforcement and government leaders, the film industry and more.
Its founder, Chipa Wolfe, was of French and Indian descent. His desire to highlight Native culture was amplified by a deeper desire to promote a union between man and Earth.
Whether lecturing at a university, corporation or military base or campaigning for sacred site conservancy or a healthier environment for future generations, Wolfe articulated his message in a manner that reflects sincerity and passion.
