KSU’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute to host fall social

Event set for Oct. 29 at KSU Center

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education will have a “Roaring 20’s” themed social on Monday, October 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the KSU Center.

Highlights of the night include dancing and entertainment by the Atlanta Seventeen – a non-profit band playing popular favorites from the ’20s, ‘30s and today. Guests can also expect contests, door prizes and a curated art exhibit from OLLI students. Art mediums may include oil, acrylic, pencil, pen and ink, watercolor and photography.

“We look forward to OLLI Socials every quarter,” said Pat Walker, program manager. “The event offers members, family and friends a festive atmosphere that fosters friendship, fond memories and entertainment. They bring our community together.”

The event sponsored by Marietta Hearing Center, Yeomans Consulting Group, and Arbor Terrace at Burnt Hickory is part of OLLI’s mission to provide lifelong learning opportunities for adults age 50 and older.

OLLI at KSU encourages students from diverse backgrounds and professions to stay intellectually active and engaged through various courses, excursions and social events. Quarterly themed socials, movie nights and the annual Donuts and Notes event in December highlight the year’s social activities. Classes are offered year round in the areas of technology, art and music, finance, leisure, health and fitness.

“There’s something for everyone at OLLI,” Walker said. “We strive to provide our students with a variety of courses and activities.”

The fall social is open to the public, and registration is $15 per person and includes dinner and live entertainment. Advance registration is encouraged and can be completed online at ccpe.kennesaw.edu or by calling 470-578-6765.
