Man Steals Truck Idling In Driveway in Canton: Police
The owner was allowing the vehicle to warm up when the alleged thief got in and drove it from the residence.

CANTON, GA -- A Kennesaw man has been arrested on charges he allegedly stole a truck idling outside a home in Canton.
Joshua Brandon Reece, 26, has been charged with felony theft by taking and two counts of obstruction, the Canton Police Department said Monday.
Canton police were dispatched to a home on Juniper Street around 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9. The owner of the white Dodge Ram told police he was allowing the vehicle to warm up when he came outside to find it stolen, the agency said.

Officers put out an alert and a short time later, a K-9 deputy with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office observed the truck matching the description enter the River Green subdivision on Highway 20.
The deputy and Canton police officers located the unoccupied truck in the driveway of a home on Generals Place, a street inside the subdivision.

At that moment, officers observed a man, later identified as Reece, standing near the truck run into the wooded area behind the homes.
Officers chased Reece into the woods and he was later captured behind another home in the subdivision.
He was transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
"I would like to thank the Cherokee Sheriff's Office for their alert action, very timely assistance and dedicated support that played a very vital role in the apprehension of this individual," said Canton Police Chief Mark Mitchell. "In addition, we appreciate several of the River Green residents for getting involved by calling 911 to let us know they spotted the suspect which helped us pinpoint the suspect's location before he was taken into custody."
Jail records show Reece has also been charged with a slew of traffic offenses such as reckless driving, failure to report an accident, attempting to elude police, violation of Class D license, improper class permit, driving on divided highway and driving too fast for conditions.
