Man Threatens Ex-Girlfriend With Knife: Police
The woman told Canton police that Christopher Simmons allegedly kicked in her door while her child was in the apartment.

CANTON, GA -- A Bartow County man was arrested late last week on charges he allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife.
Officers with the Canton Police Department were dispatched around 4 a.m. June 4 to the 300 block of Lakeview Drive in response to a caller saying her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Christopher T. Simmons, "had kicked in her apartment door and threatened her with a knife," the agency said.
Police say the caller was with her child in the home at the time of the incident. Officers arrived on the scene, and assessed the damage done to the victim's door as well as her vehicle.

Simmons, who left the scene before officers arrived, was located behind a building in the area and arrested. During the time of his apprehension, Canton police say he allegedly had marijuana in his pocket.
Simmons, who resides in Cartersville, is charged with home invasion, aggravated assault (FVA), criminal trespassing (FVA), cruelty to children in the third degree and possession of marijuana.

"Our alert officers worked quickly to arrest the suspect in this dangerous incident before any further harm was done to the family or citizens who live in the area," said Police Chief Mark Mitchell. "The apprehension of the suspect furthers our goal to improve the quality of life for each and every segment of our community."
Simmons remains held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with no bond, Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker said.
