Mark Mitchell To Take Oath as Canton's New Police Chief

Residents are also invited to say goodbye to retiring Police Chief Robert Merchant during the ceremony on Monday, Dec. 29.

Canton’s new police chief on Monday will take the oath of office.

Mark Mitchell, who currently serves as assistant police chief, will be sworn into office Dec. 29 at Canton City Hall. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. in the old City Council chambers on the third floor.

The event will also serve as a chance for residents and stakeholders to say goodbye to retiring Police Chief Robert Merchant, who announced plans to retire in October after two and a half years on the job.
