Mayors' Recycling Challenge Kicks Off in Canton
Cities in Cherokee County will be competing to see who can collect the most recycling throughout the months of June and July.

CANTON, GA -- The 5th Annual Mayors’ Recycling Challenge is up and running in Cherokee County.
The initiative, sponsored by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce's Going Green Committee, is aimed at providing awareness about the importance of recycling while sparking a friendly competition among cities.
During the months of June and July, cities in Cherokee County will be competing to see which one can collect the most recycling. Awards will be given for most pounds of recycling collected overall and per capita.

North Metro Waste and Waste Management are partnering with the Chamber on this project by providing recycling containers to participating cities and tracking each city’s weigh slips, as well as tracking curbside recycling within the city.
The mission of the Chamber’s Going Green initiative is to encourage the community to implement green practices that conserve community resources while helping businesses thrive.
