New Cherokee Commissioners Take Oaths Of Office
Steve West of District 1, Scott Gordon of District 4 and Commission Chair Buzz Ahrens were sworn in on Wednesday.
Two new faces have been sworn into office to represent voters in Cherokee County.
Commissioners Scott Gordon of District 4 and Steve West of District 1 took their oaths of office last week in Canton. They were joined by incumbent County Commission Chair Buzz Ahrens, who was also sworn in to serve a third four-year term.
Ahrens won re-election to a third term in the Nov. 4 general election, easily defeating challenger Carolyn Cosby. Gordon defeated opponent Larry Singleton in the July Republican primary runoff.

West also won the District 1 Commission race, ousting incumbent Harry Johnston during the May primary.
District 4 represents Woodstock, Towne Lake and southwest Cherokee County while District 1 encompasses Canton and northern Cherokee.
