New Officer Joins Canton Police Department
Mary Lewis was sworn into office on Dec. 13 at Canton City Hall.
CANTON, GA — The Canton Police Department earlier this month welcomed the newest officer to join its ranks. Mary Lewis was sworn in on Dec. 13 by Municipal Court Judge Tom Roach at Canton City Hall.
Before coming to Canton, Lewis previously served with the Cobb County Police Department. She will begin the required field training program, which will give her the tools necessary to be a successful member of the local police force.
“We are all excited to have officer Lewis join the CPD, and truly feel she will be an excellent fit for our professional agency and great community we serve," Police Chief Mark Mitchell said.

Mitchell also joined city officials to congratulate four officers who were promoted to supervisory positions at the Dec. 13 ceremony. Officers Jose Souto and Gregory Ayers were promoted to the rank of corporal and Mary Turner and Tiffany Cromer were promoted to the rank of sergeant. Family members and friends were also in attendance to share in this special occasion.
