New Officer To Serve Alongside Sister At Canton Police Department

Kathleen Gerdes, who previously worked at the Floyd County Police Department, will join her sister, Allison, who is a detective.

CANTON, GA -- A new face has joined the Canton Police Department, and she will have one familiar face to help her learn the ropes.

Kathleen Gerdes, who previously served as an officer with the Floyd County Police Department, was sworn into office Dec. 14 by Municipal Court Judge Tom Roach.

She is the sister of Detective Allison Gerdes, who is employed with the Canton Police Department in its Criminal Investigations Division.

In her free time, Kathleen Gerdes is an outdoor enthusiast who likes to spend time with family and read books.

Over the next few months, Officer Gerdes will be working in the department's field training program to learn the streets of Canton and get to know the members of the community.

"Officer Kathleen Gerdes will be an excellent fit for this organization," Chief Mark Mitchell said. "During the course of her employment process, we found that her experience, attitude, mindset and background shows that she is the caliber of officer that we need at our department to both protect and engage with our community."
