Paint, Electronics Recycling Event Set For Saturday in Canton

Residents can drop off old, unused electronics and certain appliances from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9 at City Hall.

This weekend, Canton residents will be able to get rid of bulky items clogging up space in their basements or garages.

The city on Saturday, May 9 will host its Recycling Day at Canton City Hall. The event allows residents to get rid of unused electronics, old paint and documents. The city will hold the collection event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents will be able to shred sensitive documents for $3 per box. To recycle paint, the city will charge $2 per gallon of latex paint, $3 per gallon of oil-based paint and $1 per can of spray paint.

Electronics accepted for recycling at no charge include: personal computers, laptops, modems, floppy disks/disk drives, printers, UPS batteries, CD-Roms, fax machines, cell phones, circuit boards, copiers phones, computer power supplies, stereos/VCR/CD players, scanners, keyboards, typewriters, microwaves, mouse/mice, test equipment, wire/cables, computer monitors, networking equipment, vacuum cleaners, car batteries, toaster ovens and dehumidifiers.

Items that will not be accepted are washers, dyers, blenders, humidifiers, refrigerators, blenders, gas-powered tools, tires, ovens and household trash.

Televisions and CRT monitors will be collected for $10 and projection and console televisions will be recycled for $25.
