Patriotic Employer Award for Cherokee County Schools
Lead Speech Language Pathologist Dr. Patti Howard was honored.

Release, Cherokee County Schools:
Cherokee County School District Lead Speech Language Pathologist Dr. Patti Howard was honored this month with the National Patriotic Employer Award.
Presented by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve, the award recognizes employers who contribute to National security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.

Dr. Howard was nominated for this award by contract Occupational Therapist Erin Riquelme, who had meningitis while she was pregnant and her husband was deployed out of the country by the National Guard.
Dr. Howard was able to arrange coverage for Ms. Riquelme from September through January (through her contract agency) in order for Ms. Riquelme to move home to be with her family after she was released from the hospital. Dr. Howard also offered social emotional support during this critical time period for Ms. Riquelme and her family.

“We are very proud that Patti’s actions are recognized as this is something that she does daily as a valued employee of CCSD,” said Charlette M. Green, Director of Special Education for CCSD.
Dr. Howard will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the Sept. 4, 2014 meeting of the School Board.
